This last week was great. We spend time learning procedures and focusing on the IB Learner profiles, namely being open-minded, risk-takers, caring, and Inquirers. We enjoyed creating a class puzzle that showed our individuality but that we fit together as a class.
This coming week we will continue to work on the profiles. Focusing on being communicators, thinkers, principled, knowledgable, balanced and being reflective. Yesterday we did a fun activity to learn about communication. You can ask your student about.
We will also be learning the 29 Spaulding rules spelling. This will prepare students to understand our spelling program for next week.
Math homework should be in place this week. Students are learning place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and rounding. We have not received student logins yet but I will let you know as soon as possible.
Students should also be doing their nightly reading of 20 Minutes a night. I will be sending home a monthly calendar to help them keep track of their minutes. I will also post the calendar and other helpful tips on the reading page of the website.
Volunteers- We are looking for STAR Reading volunteers. This is a 1 hour a week commitment where you will be working with a student to help them bring there reading up. I am also still looking for a room parent and parents who can come in to make copies.
Donations- We had so many wonderful donations and I am so grateful! Thank you for all of your help. Throughout the year I may need some random items for student projects. If possible I would love to have them donated. The next activity is for our living and non-living unit. I will be needing cheap knee high women's nylon stockings. You can purchase them in an egg for $.33 at Walmart or at the Dollar Store. I also need a bag of potting soil, and small plastic disposable plates (solo).
Thank you so much for all your help. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
